- ARTEFACT SCATTER (Roman - 43 AD to 409 AD)

Full Description
A Romano-British pot scatter which includes greyware, samian and colour coat wares. Field walking by Kings School Archaeological Societies produced this material from a site previously noted in the late 1950s. {1}{2}
The site is one of those which have a depression c.5m deep and 15m wide. Since it lies on the Marlstone and Ironstone Cuesta (a slope probably ending in a steep drop), a quarry could have existed here, but a date would be hard to prove. {3}
