Full Description

A hexagonal Second World War pillbox with cast concrete roof. The exterior walls have been encased in red brick, laid in in stretcher bond, and there are concrete lintels to the gunslits, and anti-ricochet walls inside. A rectangular concrete block forms an entrance guard outside. The pillbox stands in a direct north-south line with 2 other pillboxes, all with different construction details. It is currently (1990) in use as storage space for allotments. {1} The pillbox is of the type 22 hexagonal variety. It has a half-height rear blast wall, no rear embrasures and an unusual 5-way anti-ricochet wall with plank seating. {2}{3}
