Full Description

ABUNDANT BRIQUETAGE FROM AN AREA OF DARK SOIL STAIN. SOME LARGE FRAGMENTS OF DOMESTIC POT EXHIBITED FRESH BREAKS. ISOLATED SALTERN HEARTHS WERE IDENTIFIED BY AREAS OF INTENSE BRIQUETAGE AND RED SOIL STAINS SCATTERED OVER THE SITE AREA. AT TF 26631716 (COW 43) - POTTERY AND 9 ANIMAL BONES IN A DARK SOIL STAIN INDICATES SETTLEMENT ON THE EDGE OF A LARGE RODDON. THE SITE CONTINUES INTO THE UNSURVEYED FIELD TO THE NORTH. AT TF 26681729 (COW 41) - POTTERY SCATTER ON RODDON CONSISTING OF GENERALLY LARGE SHERDS SUGGESTING ONLY RECENT PLOUGH DAMAGE. A LINEAR BAND OF CLEAN SILT SEPARATES THIS SITE FROM 23140. FINDS INCLUDE ABUNDANT COCKLE, MUSSEL AND OYSTER SHELL. {1} THIS SITE IS WITHIN THE CROPMARK AREA OF 20314., HTM 3M
