References to Manor of Laundes cum Newbery in Gosberton and Surfleet. There is a moated site at TF215294 suggested as the location of this manor. Laundes now located further north - site marked Hallstead - so this could be Newbery.{1}{2} APPARENT MOATED SITE ON CULCRAFTS MAP OF 1776 AND CHRISTOPHER EPWORTH DATED 1799. IT IS NOW LEVELLED, AND IS POSSIBLY THE SITE OF THE MEDIEVAL MANOR OF NEWBERRY. {3}, HTM 3.5M
