Full Description
An ancient red brick farmhouse named Barraper or Barrowby Hall in Risegate is all that is left of the manor house of Beaurepaire. The manor of Beaurepaire is mentioned in 1343.{1}{2}
A 19th century farmhouse. Published survey (25 inch) of moat revised. {1}
A medieval moated site, that of Barrowpier (pronounced Barrowby) Hall, bulldozed and the moat filled, May 1969. Site produced mostly post medieval pottery, including heavy Toynton types, Bourne D wares, Westerwald, glazed cream or brown floor tiles, lava quern fragment, building material in general, Bourne A. cooking pot.{3}
Barrowpier Hall, Surfleet. Redeveloped 19th century farmstead. Loose courtyard with two sides of the courtyard formed by working agricultural buildings. The farmhouse was detached from the main working complex. Located within a Church and/or Manor farm group. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {6}
