Full Description

A polished stone axe found about 1902 by men cleaning out a drain in Leaves, Lake Drove, Pinchbeck. Was seen by Mr Maples some time President of the Spalding Gentlemen's Society. Present whereabouts of the axe is not known. {1} No further information. The Gents. Soc. Spalding have no record of this find.{1} ALTHOUGH THE FINDSPOT IS RECORDED AS BEING C.1.5KM EAST OF THE FORTY FOOT DRAIN THE NEOLITHIC LAND SURFACE THERE LIES WELL BELOW THE DITCH BOTTOM AND THE FIND IS MORE LIKELY TO HAVE BEEN MADE FURTHER WEST, NEARER TO THE DRAIN. {3}
