Full Description

A possible medieval grange of Spalding Priory is believed to have been located on this site. Fragments of medieval architecture, believed to have formed part of the grange, were incorporated in the construction of the 19th century farmstead of Red House on this site (see PRN 26237). The fragments included a wooden carving: 'On an oak frieze over the window of Edward Brightman's House, called Old or Fair Fullney, or the Red House, formerly The Abbey vachery, were carved the instruments of the Passion, with shields held by angels… This is identified as the 'Ambreylathes' which appears as one of Spalding Priory's granges or manors.' Other fragments included two rooms of a brick medieval building incoporated into the later structures. {1}{2}
