Full Description

Church of Holy Cross, in ruins by 1284, probably stood near Town Hall. A stone coffin containing skeleton and a second skeleton discovered 4 ft down sinking well near site. White records the findings of upwards of forty stone coffins and human remains when old houses pulled down in Bridge Street. {1}{2}{3}{4} Modern built shops occupy the site; there are no known foundation remains of the church.{1}
