Full Description

Hoard of 60-70 silver coins of Edward IV Richard III and Charles of Bergundy, in a small jug, found at Sutton Crosses in about 1882. Jug of Grimston ware in Wisbech Museum.{1}{2} 'Found at Sutton Crosses, Long Sutton, in Mr W Naylor's Field, contained 60 or 70 silver coins of Edward IV, Richard III and Charles of Burgundy.' Presented to Wisbech Mus 1st May 1882 by Miss P Peckover. Small, now rimless jug, appears to be Grimston ware, sandy textured inlight grey-buff fabric with patches of light olive green glaze. Badly repaired with what appears to be concrete.{3}
