Probable Roman settlement group extending both sides of New South Eau. A compact group of tiny ditched enclosures between two double-ditched droves seen as crop and soilmarks, under plough, on APs. Site not visited. The site continues into Cambridgeshire. {1}{2}{3}{4} Area under crop - no surface evidence of occupation, no local knowledge of archaeological finds. {1} North of the New South Eau the land is arable, partly fresh plough, part strawberries, and the area of concentrated cropmarks still under beet. Perambulated where possible, but no finds were made. The wife of one of the farmers of the area has several Roman coins, one found here. From a brief inspection it seems to be an as or sestertius possibly of Antoninus Pius.{8} Recent APs (ie c.1998) show cropmark ditches in the field to the east of Coronation Avenue. Two ponds have been excavated on the line of part of the features; lots of well-fired pottery was recovered during their excavation. Information from Cambridgeshire SMR. {10}{11}
