BRONZE EWER SPOUT FOUND, WESTON

Type and Period (1)

  • (Medieval - 1400 AD to 1499 AD)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

A C15 bronze spout, which would have been soldered on to a bronze ewer was found, the spouts being of cast bronze seem to survive better than the parent body which was no doubt very thin. These ewers with 'dogs' head' spouts occur all over Europe particularly in Germany and Holland, and this spout may have a continental provenance.{1} Found on farmland in Delegate Road, Weston.{2}
