Full Description
POSTLAND FARM, NOW KNOWN AS ST JAMES' FARM WAS ERECTED IN 1852 BY MR EDWARD BROWNING, ARCHITECT FROM STAMFORD, AT A COST OF 1250 POUNDS. IT BELONGED TO THE MARQUIS OF EXETER. IT IS AN EXAMPLE OF A MODEL FARM OF 500 ACRES. IT IS ILLUSTRATED IN PLAN AND ISOMETRIC VIEW IN JOHN BAILEY DENTON. {1}{2}{3}
St. James's Farm (Postland Farm), Crowland. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of E plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {4}
