Full Description
THERE ARE THE REMAINS OF MEDIEVAL SALTERNS EXTENDING EASTWARDS FROM RED HOUSE FARM TO CONEY GARTH HOUSE, AND THEN TO GROVE FARM. {1} HOLBEACH WAS SAID TO HAVE HAD A VERY IMPORTANT SALT-MAKING INDUSTRY. THE MINOR PLACENAME CONEY GARTH SUGGESTS THAT THE FORMER SALTERN MOUNDS WERE USED AS RABBIT WARRENS. {2}
