Full Description

PRN 20474 Post medieval settlement of Gedney Dyke. {1} During a watching brief at TF 4131 2617 a large dyke, 19 metres in width, 5 metres wide and 1 metre deep, was identified. The dyke had been backfilled at some point in the 19th century. Although there is no exact date for the dyke it is likely to also share a post medieval date. {2}{3} During a watching brief at 7 and 9 Roman Bank TF 4156 2634, a brick built cistern, a drain and a pit dating to the post medieval period were uncovered. Post medieval brick and tile were recovered from these features. {4}{5}
