Full Description

The Counter Drain Railway Bridge was built before 1866, and carried the Midland and Great Northern Railway over the river Glen at Counter Drain, the line being operational by 1866. It was closed to all traffic in 1965. The bridge was surveyed by the Industrial Archaeology Section of the Society for Lincolnshire History and Archaeology in September 1980, at which time maintenance of the structure seemed to have ceased as some of the timber walkways had fallen through. The bridge has since been largely demolished, although some of the supporting piers still remain. {1}{2}{3}{4}
