Full Description
The earthwork south of Hill House, Whaplode, earlier published as Camp, is a saltern. Now partly levelled.{1}{2}{3} The published earthwork is a natural sandhill (pure sand in section) with amorphous disturbances indicating adoption for salt working. Softening by plough to the north and destruction by sand quarrying to the south renders the feature of no archaeological interest.{1} THESE SALTERNS ARE NOW BEING PLOUGHED DOWN. {4}
