Full Description

The Vauxhall foundry was established by Thomas Tooley Stephenson in about 1870 and worked by his family until about 1950. It was named after the nearby Vauxhall Gardens and was called a brass and iron foundry. It was a small, single storey red brick building behind a house. It has a modern tiled roof and at the south end is a small timber office beyond that. It has arched windows and doors, with a small round window in each gable. The house on the site is much older, with an extension of the same date as the foundry. The main building is 61 feet 9 inches by 25 feet, and 28 feet high to the ridge of the roof. {1}{2}
