Full Description

The railway and associated buildings were erected after 1848 by the Great Northern Railway. Buildings associated include goods sheds and offices (which have now been demolished), and a granary. In 1894 a civil engineering yard was constructed, parts of which may still survive. There are also two stable blocks, one which was associated with the civil engineering yard, the other may be associated with the opening of the Boston Dock and expansion of the goods yard in 1880s. A locomotive depot was also constructed around 1848. This had offices (demolished 1996), workshops (which may survive), an engine shed, water tower, a storehouse and a turntable was added in 1899. These were all demolished in 1970. {1}{2}
