Full Description
PRN 13447
The crossing keepers cottage at Middlegate Road was probably built in 1848 for the Great Northern Railway. It is a single storey yellow brick building with a slate roof. The original plan is similar to NRW58 (TF296 354); windows on the track similar. Extension on the north with red brick lean-to added. It was still occupied by the crossing keeper and family in 1966. It has an old yellow brick toilet in the garden; modern prefabricated toilet closer to the cottage. It is probably now either sold off as a house or has been demolished. {1}
