Full Description

PRN 13399 In 1992, a watching brief was carried out on a site adjacent to Church Road at TF 3758 4388. This revealed ditches, pits and a pond dating to the 14th to 17th century. They are probably the result of agricultural activities.{4} During fieldwalking, as part of an evaluation of land off Butterwick Road, medieval pottery was identified. There was a slight concentration towards the Butterwick Road frontage.{1} During the excavation of trial trenches off Butterwick Road, a number of medieval features were identified. There were medieval pits and ditches with pottery dating from the 11th to 15th century, animal bone and shell. There was also a rare Rouen jug dating from the late 12th to early 13th century.{2}
