Full Description

Three magnetic anomalies of possible archaeological significance were discovered by geophysical survey. The first may be the remains of a burning event. The second is a possible pit. The third us a sub-rectangular feature that lies directly west of the area of the moated manor house which was demolished in the 1970's, and which may have been a successor to the medieval Bozon Hall. {1} During the evaluation of the site the first anomaly could not be located. The third is a medieval ditch, abandoned by the mid to late twelfth century, and thus already redundant when Bozon Hall was first referenced in 1377. Other features in trench 3 are contemporary. The later medieval moat of the first Bozon Manor was also discovered during the evaluation. {2}{3}
