Full Description

PRN 13322 A BRICK-VAULTED CELLAR AT 3 NEW STREET WAS RECORDED PRIOR TO REDEVELOPMENT AT THE SITE. IT WAS BLOCKED WHEN THE NEW STREET WAS BUILT, SOME TIME BETWEEN 1741 AND 1803, ALTHOUGH A DATE FOR THE CELLAR HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. EXAMINATION OF THE BRICKS SUGGESTS, HOWEVER, THAT IT MAY DATE FROM THE C16 ONWARDS. IT COULD BELONG TO ONE OF A NUMBER OF PUBLIC HOUSES DATING FROM THE C16 REFERRED TO IN DOCUMENTARY SOURCES, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN ON OR NEAR THE SITE. {1}{2}
