Full Description

PRN 13320 TWO POST MEDIEVAL MIDDENS WERE IDENTIFIED BY GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY, AND THEN INVESTIGATED BY TRIAL TRENCHING. BOTH RUBBISH HEAPS CONTAINED PROFUSE AMOUNTS OF VARIED OCCUPATION DEBRIS OF C16-C17 DATE. POSITIONED TO EAST AND WEST OF SUTTERTON HOUSE, THESE REFUSE DEPOSITS ARE ALMOST CERTAINLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE EARLY C17 HALL. FILLING IN OF THE MEDIEVAL FIELD DYKES OCCURED IN THE POST MEDIEVAL PERIOD. A POSSIBLE STRUCTURE AND THE SITES OF BONFIRES WERE ALSO IDENTIFIED. POST MEDIEVAL MATERIAL WAS ALSO RECOVERED DURING FIELDWALKING. {1}{2}
