Full Description

A LARGE PIECE OF LATE SAXON STAMFORD WARE WAS FOUND MIDWAY BETWEEN THE CHURCH AND THE VICARAGE TO THE NORTH IN THE 1950s. {1} LARGE RIM SHERD OF SAXO-NORMAN POT FOUND c1956. {2} ONE LARGE RIM SHERD OF SAXO-NORMAN WARE WAS FOUND DURING THE MAKING OF A GRAVEL PATH FROM THE RECTORY TO THE CHURCH IN c1956. THIS PATH WAS CUT INTO THE TURF OF THE PRESENT PARK, WHICH PROBABLY LIES OVER THE AREA OF THE ORIGINAL MEDIEVAL VILLAGE. THE PARK ITSELF IS AT LEAST C18, AND THE ONLY EXISTING BUILDINGS IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE CHURCH ARE THE RECTORY, THE C19 SCHOOL, AND A SMALL MODERN COUNCIL ESTATE. {3}{4}~, HTM 3M
