Full Description

FIELDWALKING BY B SIMMONS REVEALED A LARGE QUANTITY OF POTTERY MOSTLY MEDIEVAL IN DATE, AND INCLUDED BOURNE B AND D WARES, TWO SHERDS OF MIDLANDS PURPLE WARE, FRAGMENTS OF TILE AND SOFT FIRED BRICKS TEMPERED WITH GRASS. A FEW SHERDS OF NOTTINGHAM PALE WARES AND ONE LINCOLNSHIRE HANDLE. THERE WAS ALSO ONE SHERD WITH APPLIED PELLETS AND STRIP (BOTH WITH COPPER GLAZE). THERE WAS ONE ROMAN GREY RIM, ONE SOUTH LINCS GRITTY WARE SHERD AND ONE EARLY MEDIEVAL RIM, ONE PINK 'TERRA COTTA' CLAY MODEL WITH ITS SURFACE SLIGHTLY 'FUMED', REMINISCENT OF COLOUR-COATED WARE. THERE WAS ALSO ONE MINUTE FLINT FLAKE WHICH LOOKED RECENT, AND ONE SHELLY WARE SHERD OF UNCERTAIN DATE, AND SOME TOYNTON ALL SAINTS WARE.{1}
