Full Description

IA AND RB POTTERY AND BRIQUETAGE FOUND, INCLUDING ONE ONE OR TWO WELL SHAPED FRAGMENTS. POTTERY INCLUDED AMPHORA FRAGMENTS, GREYWARES, EARLY MORTAR, MISCELLANEOUS SANDY WARES INCLUDING DARK GREY (ALL VERY ABRADED). NINE STAMPED (OR ROULETTED) POSSIBLY IRON AGE AND SEVERAL COARSE GRITTY AND SHELLY WARE WHICH ALSO LOOK EARLY AS DO SOME OXIDISED SANDY WARES (BUT THERE ARE ALSO OXIDISED MEDIEVAL SHERDS IN THE COLLECTION). FOUR DARK GREY SOAPY SHERDS ARE POSSIBLY GRASS TEMPERED.{1} SAID BY THE FENLAND SURVEY TO BE PROMINENT MOUND WITH GREY SOILMARK. THE MOUND IS ON A RODDON BUT APPEARS TO BE ARTIFICIALLY HEIGHTENED. {2}, AREA 0.35H, HTM 2M A geophysical survey which was carried out on the area of a pond enlargement. No evidence of archaeological remains was found. {3}
