Full Description

PRN 12822 WRANGLE HALL WAS THE SEAT OF THE READE FAMILY, WHO RESIDED IN WRANGLE FROM ABOUT THE MIDDLE OF THE 14TH CENTURY, UNTIL LATE IN THE 17TH CENTURY. A LARGE PART OF THE HOUSE WAS TAKEN DOWN ABOUT FIFTY YEARS AGO, IN ABOUT 1806 AND THE REMAINDER WAS MODERNISED ABOUT 25 YEARS LATER. TRADITIONALLY THERE WAS A CHAPEL HERE, REMAINS OF WHICH EXISTED IN A FIELD OPPOSITE THE HALL IN THE 18TH CENTURY. THIS IS PROBABLY THE ST PETER'S CHAPEL, BUT ITS SITE IS NOT KNOWN.{1} WRANGLE HALL, Wrangle. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of U plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within a Church and/or Manor farm group. {4}
