Full Description
Cropmarks of probable settlement activity of late prehistoric date, to the south of Owmby Vale. Visible on aerial photographs taken of this area by Historic England in July 2018. The cropmarks show a string of small rectilinear and curvilinear enclosures, interconnected by a series of probable field boundary ditches. These ditches also radiate to either side of the settlement core, forming boundaries, along with a sinuous stretch of pit alignment. What are thought to be up to five possible round house ring ditches are also visible within the complex, though unenclosed. The sporadic and sinuous nature of the settlement might suggest a date from as early as the late Bronze Age, through the Iron Age. (1)
