Full Description

A Medieval gold ring, possibly a love or marriage ring, was supposedly recovered from a garden in St Gilbert's Road, Bourne. Described at auction as "a medieval gold ring with unusual trefoil bezel mounted with an almandine garnet, the points of the triangular table facet fusing with the three claws of the setting, with flowering foliage at the shoulders and 'Honor et Lyer' behind the bezel (shoulders formerly enamelled), 15th century". {1} The ring was found somewhere in Bourne (though the exact location was not given) in late 1987/early 1988 and brought to the British Museum for identification by a Maggie Solly.
