Full Description
A post-medieval well survives in this location near Brant Edge Farm, to the north-east of Brant Broughton. It is made of narrow (2" thick) unmortared bricks, likely dating from the 18th or 19th century. The bricks are thought to have been locally made, possibly from the former brickworks to the south of Brant Broughton (see MLI89536), or Leadenham Low Fields (see MLI86632). The well is not marked on any known historical maps for this area. It likely went out of use at some point in the mid to late 19th century, being deliberately sealed with a cast iron plate and unmortared bricks. {1}
