Full Description

The 'site of the old manor house. The present Peachy Hall is early 19th century in date'.{2} The manor and land was held by Herbert Peche in 1272 and by John Mosse de Leake in 1391, who was styled 'Lord of the Manor of Freeston, called Pekke Hall'. The hall was situated in a field at Skrayne End and is still known as Peachy Hall, in which the foundations can be traced.{3} Slight surface irregularities are visible on aerial photographs.{1}{2}{3}{4} The area was under plough in 1965 and there was no evidence of foundations nor of ground surface irregularities.{1} A scatter of medieval pottery was found near to the Peachy Hall site.{5}
