Full Description

A watching brief conducted at the Giles School in 2006 uncovered a pit containing a small amount of Saxo-Norman pottery and an undefined feature of probably similar date containing mussel shells. {1}{2} A subsequent watching brief in 2011 immediately to the west uncovered a cluster of 14 pits containing 9th to 11th century pottery. Two of the pits had burnt clay linings and may have been used as hearths. {3}{4}
