Full Description

Two trial trenches excavated in June 2023 recorded a series of intercutting Roman ditches to the southeast of High Grange Farm, Fulstow, in advance of a proposed residential development. The earlier phase comprised two parallel ditch runs oriented northwest to southeast, trundated by an east west running ditch visible in both trenches. A small assemblage of Roman pottery from the 2nd to 4th century was recorded in addition to a single hobnail, a possible bead, and environmental evidence for cereal production or processing on or near the site. {1}{2}
