Full Description

Built in 1942 as part of RAF Harlaxton the two buildings worked in conjunction with each other, being the decontamination centre for treating victims of gas attacks and its standby set house which was where a diesel generator was situated. Both buildings are of sturdy brick and concrete construction and despite subsequent damage and partial collapse, they remain legible and largely intact. The decontamination centre is arranged around a central spine wall with two entrances to allow for both able bodied and wounded ingress, meeting in the centre of the building in a formerly airlocked decontamination room. From there various treatments or reclothing could proceed on a room by room basis. The standby set house has a covered entrance, with several concrete machine bases still present. {1}{2}
