Full Description

A small bore hole pump house structure, located on Chalk Lane. Although now largely ruinous, the structure was originally roughly rectangular in shape, and built of red brick with external concrete render. The roof has largely collapsed, but seems to have been of thin, corrugated concrete tiles. The structure is thought to have supplied water for the adjacent RAF Sutton Bridge training station (see MLI 20490). The exact date of its construction is uncertain, though it likely dates to either the Second World War, or to the slightly earlier development of the airfield in the 1930s. {1}{2}
