Full Description

Several broad zones of magnetic variation identified during geophysical survey were considered suggestive of five possible kilns on land south of Keal Hill road, Old Bolingbroke. Two potential kilns were noted in the northern portion of the site, with a further three along the eastern edge of the site. The kilns ccompanied by areas giving signals suggestive of waste material, which may be backfilled clay extraction pits. While no dating evidence was noted on the site, the authors of the geophysical survey considered that the wider area may be associated with medieval pottery production {1}
