- RIDGE AND FURROW (Medieval - 1066 AD to 1539 AD)
Protected Status/Designation

Full Description
The remains of ridge and furrow ploughing were noted in a geophysical survey in May 2023, and while they did cover the full extent of the surveyed area it seems likely the remains have been damaged in several areas. {1}
A follow up scheme of trial trenching investigated the northern portion of the area subject to geophysics, and in addition to a probable buried ploughsoil the furrows were found to be up to 1.7m wide and 0.18m deep, although they did not contain any datable finds. {2}{3}
