Full Description

Two parallel ditches were recorded during trial trenching at Alford Manor Museum. One ditch contained 18 sherds of 12th to 13th century pottery representing five vessels, and a single sherd of 8th to 9th century pottery. While only one ditch contained dating information, the similiarity of the environmental sample results which showed some evidence for free-threshing wheat suggests they may have been contemporary. {1}{2}
