Full Description

A ditch identified in geophysical survey as running parallel to the A15 on the west side was investigated with in two trial trenches. The ditch was excavated, however no dating evidence or finds were recovered, and so the date and relationship to the route of the A15, and therefore the route of the Roman road which proceeded it, are uncertain. It was measured at 1.74m wide by 0.44m deep in the north of the site and 1.62m wide by 0.52m deep in the south of the site, with two deposits contained within the cut both of which appear to have been formed through natural silting. {1}{2}
