Full Description

A metalled floor surface of medieval date was identified during stripping, comprised of packed chalk and including two sherds of Toynton Medieval Ware (13th to 15th century). Further to this part of a right-angled wall were identified, in conjunction with daub and ceramic building material. Neither the wall nor the floor surface were excavated, as stripping was only undertaken to the level required in order to construct a new grain store. {1}{2} Both the ditch and wall are on the same alignment as NMP cropmarks associated with medieval settlement in the area, suggesting they are part of the wider settlement and are of contemporary date. {3}
