Full Description
A sub-circular ditched enclosure with partially surviving banks, directly abutted by a rectlinear enclosure is visible in LIDAR at Ingoldsby Wood. It is unclear what the relationship between the sub-circular enclosure and rectilinear enclosure is, and whether they are contemporary or which pre-dates the other. The paths navigating the woodland appear to cut the enclosure, suggesting it pre-dates at least the 1840s at which point the paths are mapped in Ordnance Survey mapping. {1}
The woodland itself is a mix of Ancient Woodland types, and likely pre-dates 1600 although parts have been replanted at later dates. {2}
