Full Description

Former farmhouse at Home Farm, Somerby. The building is thought to date from the late 18th century, although an exact date of construction is uncertain. The building is clearly depicted in its current plan form on the 1st edition 6" Ordnance Survey County Series map of 1886. It is of two storeys, and largely built of red brick, with some stone dressings to the windows and porch. The pitched roofs are covered by slate, with brick chimney stacks to the principal gables and with a further chimney stack above the kitchen and dining room. The main entrance porch is to the northern elevation. Some alterations and extensions to the building are thought to have been made in the 19th century, with further internal alterations likely in the 20th century. {1}{2}
