Full Description
Painshall, Church Lane, Welton. Early 19th century two storey farmhouse of coursed limestone rubble, under a pitched pantile roof with brick coped tumbled gables, with 20th century alterations. During the 1940s, the building was sub-divided into three cottages, housing 10 working families. Two of the former front elevation door openings have since been infilled with limestone rubble. The current house is depicted on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps of Welton as part of an L-plan group of buildings, with a west-southwest to east-northeast aligned range of buildings joined to the northern end of the house. The eastern part of this range appears to have been demolished in the 20th century. The western end of this range may still be extant. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
Painshall is listed as a building of importance in the Welton Conservation Area Appraisal. {2}
