Full Description

An area of attempted terracing on sloping ground was identified in an archaeological watching brief by Witham Archaeology in 2017. Several cut features were recorded which were interpreted as an attempt to level the site and build a metalled surface. A pit was also recorded. A small quantity of 13th to 15th century pottery was recorded (Toynton medieval ware), but was considered residual. Several fragments of 16th to 19th century brick were recorded. {1}{2}
