Full Description

The remains of three probable former field boundary ditches were identified in this location in June 2017, during archaeological monitoring of the construction of a new reoundabout at Peppermint Junction. Two of the ditches ran in a north-east to south-west direction, whilst the third ran in a north-west to south-east direction. No finds were recovered from the fills of any of the features, and no definite date for the ditches could be confirmed. None of the ditches are depicted on historic Ordnance Survey maps of the area, however, and a pre-19th century origin for them was thought likely. {1}{2}
