Full Description

An east-west aligned boundary ditch measuring 1.9m wide was identified on land to the south of School Lane, Silk Willoughby during trial trenching in 2019. A clay pipe bowl and stem fragment, similar in form to an Oswald Type 6 and dating to the mid-late 17th century, were recovered from the fill of the ditch. The ditch appears to be the same one seen on 1st and 2nd Edition OS maps. {1}{2}
