Full Description

Cropmarks of a small rectangular enclosure of possible Neolithic date are visible on aerial photographs, taken of this area to the east of Stainton le Vale. The enclosure is elongated north-west by south-east and has maximum visible dimensions measuring 25.5m by 20m. The feature is on the same general alignment as a large long barrow enclosure a short distance to the north and may be associated (see MLI52461). The cropmark is also within the confines of an area of Second World War military activity relating to RAF Binbrook, but is not obviously associated other than a small military road appears to have truncated the northern end of the enclosure. Two possible pits visible within and without may be associated or may be natural. {1}{2}
