Full Description

Cropmarks of an enclosure and boundaries of probable prehistoric or Roman date, to the north of Haugham Slates Farm. The cropmarks are visible as an incomplete, rectilinear enclosure measuring roughly 50m by 40m and with an entrance to the south. The enclsoure appears to be possibly defined by two ditches, with fragments of that second ditch visible parallel to the north and south sides. Parallel to the east of the enclosure are two perpendicular boundaries which could form two sides of another enclosure. Running across the east side of the enclosure is a possible linear feature which is 75m long with an entrance half way along. The significance of this feature is not clear. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}
