Full Description
An early 19th century hotel, with possible 18th century origins. The Mablethorpe Hotel was previously known as the Castle Inn and Mablethorpe Inn before that. The Mablethorpe Hotel had its own bathing house, stables and brewery. It was a thatched building in the early 19th century and by the 1950s had changed its name to Book in Hand Hotel, which was a three storey high mock Tudor building with a gabled slate roof. In the 1970s a fire destroyed the top floor of the building and it was rebuilt in a similar style but only two storeys high. Part of the new building is now the Book in Hand public house (MLI126833) and the remainder now being used for mixed commercial purposes. {1}{2}{3}{4}
