Full Description

Former school. Single storey building of coursed stone, under a steeply pitched slate roof. Gables coped in stone. Lean-to porch. Ashlar door and window surrounds and hood moulds. The southwest elevation has a small datestone on the gable end reading '1852'. One ridge stack. {1} White's 1872 Trade Directory states that the school was erected at the expense of the vicar in 1852. {2} A small house to the rear with a detached garden seen on the 1905 OS map may have been the former schoolmaster's house. {3} The school was closed in 1973 when the new school was opened, and afterwards converted into a house. {4}{5}
